recently, my husband had a work conference in st. george, and so our

family was able to join him. it was great to get and early taste of spring...st george is

always at least 20 degrees warmer than salt lake city, and so the trees were green,

the sun was shining and it was WARM. ahhh! heaven! on the way back, i was able to pop in and

visit amanda's store in cedar city. i met amanda at the alice lane bloggers social in

demember and we immediately hit it off. she is not only sweet and funny, but stylish

and creative too. her store is really amazing, and has a very eclectic and quirky vibe,

which i loved!

i love the striped awning!

the store is filled with new, unique merchandise...

and funky vintage items...

do you think an chubby guinea pig named "freddy" would fit in the cage?
because this is SO much cuter than his current one....

i loved the way she diplayed these cow hides.

i would love the see these boxes on the shelf of my closet...instant chic!

mini pom-poms + scarves? serious cuteness.

amanda redid this dining set herself...

i really, really wanted this towel bars....but i told myself that i really need to wait until we buy a house.

i am always on the look out for a cute sunburst mirror.

these letter blocks were a lot of fun. and no, i am not the one who spelled "phat" on the blocks.

i am totally in love with this display wall! the dark midnight blue walls with the animal heads are perfect.

OH!! and this CHAIR! how fun is that?

my only regret was that i missed seeing amanda while i was there!

she left right before i walked in....boo. hoo.

i will see you next time i'm in town, amanda!

oh, in case you didn't know, amanda has a blog. you can check it out here.

napkin upholstery

remember my den?

yeah, me neither.

har. har.

i have been so busy with other things that my poor little den has

been neglected. however, i found some time this weekend to *finally

change out the seat cover of a small chair that i had been wanting to

put in the den. i have been thinking about what fabric i wanted to put on

the seat, when it dawned on me that i already had the perfect solution!

remember these napkins that i blogged about here?

yeah, me neither.

(almost!)

they had been sitting in a stack of fabrics in a closet in my laundry room

for months...when it dawned on me that one of them would make the

perfect seat cover for my little chair!

i had to do a little *sneakniness with the upholstery...the napkin was much longer than

it was wide, so the ends BARELY wrapped around the front and back edge of the seat,

which made it impossible to staple...but, like i said, i was s-n-e-a-k-y.

(i'll save that for another post).

i think it's kinda funny and random that the crab looks like it will pinch the crud out of your bum
if you sit on the chair...

here is the "before"...

e-design update

do you remember the idea board i did for the tween artists room?

well, a lot has happened in the last few months, and i have some

progress pictures to share with you!

yes, my client MADE the headboard! she did a fantastic job!

here are the things we wanted to accomplish:

more storage

purple in the room without a "purple" room

a place to read

a desk/art area

more room to spread out on the floor and hang out with friends

keep to a budget of under $2,000 for everything.

the owl lamps were in the plan from the very beginning.

as you can see, lots of storage for an active, artisitc, imaginative girl.

my client did a fantstic job of transforming my design plan into a reality, even when faced

with several hurdles including discontinued and out of stock items.

we all agree that the chalkboard wall is a fave.

my client originally wanted to frame a section of the wall with trim and paint the

interior with chalkboard paint, but i pitched the idea of painting the entire wall...

including the closet doors and casings. we both love the way it turned out.

there are still a few small elements/details to add...pillows, some trim on the curtains...

***

just for refernce, here are some before and after pictures of the room:

and, the idea board:

interested in working together to create a more beautiful

and functional space? i am accepting limited clients over the

summer, so email me today to reserve a spot:

what a beach...house

Posted by dasfseegdse 0 komentar

ahhh. so thanks for your patience with my "spring break".
i was able to get a lot done, and spend some time with my family.
mission accomplished.
almost.
i made the colossal mistake of ignoring the
laundry again, so i am kinda back to square one...
in any case, one of the things that my family and i are looking forward to is our
upcoming trip back to the south this summer. it's our first trip back in
three years! allen's family is having a reunion on the 4th of july, and
we are also going to sneak in a little time in orlando and
the beach while we are there. while i was doing some research on an
affordable place to rent while at the beach, i ran across some a---mazing
beach properties located in alys beach, florida. one house in particular, really caught my eye.
if only i had an extra 1.5 million laying around, i would snatch it up in a heartbeat:

this house designed by martinez + alvarez architects. there was no
credit on the designer, but whoever it is, is my new hero.

and, just for kicks, here are a few pictures from other alys beach homes
that i want to move into:
