anthropologie inspired lampshade

Posted by dasfseegdse Jumat, 25 Maret 2011 0 komentar

forgive me for not posting yesterday. i just got SO busy!

you see, in addition to design work, and blogging, i also get to do

glamorous things like clean the toilets, do the laundry and try to

figure out what's for dinner. again.

sometimes, i just get a little swamped.

one of the little side projects for the den that has kept me busy is my version of an anthopologie lampshade.

when i spotted this lampshade several months ago,

i was smitten.

i loved the circles, the different textures.

i loved it all.

except for the colors.

so, i decided to make one that was a

little more neutral....

i'm not gonna lie....

it was pretty time consuming.

i fretted over where to put each and every circle...

when i first started cutting the circles out,

i thought i had WAY too many.

but i ended up using every single one.

it took about two yards of linen,

and two yards of trim.

i'm very happy with the way it turned out.

it's whimsical and textural and unique.

and looks really fun with the light on!

and my gold leafed lamp finally has a shade.

i will be posting a tutorial sometime this weekend.

see you soon!

ikea hack attack

Posted by dasfseegdse 0 komentar

i recently completed an e-design plan for candace,

my sister-in-law, nicole's sister.

she is an avid diy-er, and requested that the room be on a pretty tight budget,

and so of course, i turned to ikea for a few items,

including some night stands.

the rast chest of drawers is super affordable,

(29.99), and made of real wood, which i really like.

our inspiration piece is the elisabeth bedside table from oly studio,

which retails for a smooth $1600.

here is a peek at the elevation of the bed wall,

as well as a quick sketch that i drew.

the overall plan:

new top cut and edges routed.

new legs built.

curved elements and framing added to front.

paint.

we aren't going to do any silver leafing....

instead, the whole thing is going to be painted a

soft dark blue-green:

benjamin moore's

dartsmouth green 691.

you can track the progress of the room...

candace and nicole are blogging about it here.

more kitchens

Posted by dasfseegdse 0 komentar

more pictures from my stash...

at first glance, this kitchen is very traditional.

a closer look reveals some very unusual details...

a completely open and mobile island/work-table,

a wall of windows above the countertop

a vintage metal shelf holding cook wear to the left of the stove

and a completely freestanding range.

my favorite detail is the light fixture.

these open stainless steel shelves are magnificent.

yeah, that's right, magnificent.

not a word to throw around lightly, but these shelves really are amazing.

i have seen this image online before,

and always loved the happy pops of red.

the detail on the hood also catches my eye...

it's a pattern you would see in a stained glass window,

but it's in wood.

love it.

i will always love checkerboard floors.

the vintage charm in this kitchen oozes out of every detail.

i love the shelf over the kitchen window

and the little mug shelf to the right of the sink is great.

and i LOVE me some built-ins!

these long drawers are the perfect way to take advantage

of the space under this banquette. notice how the drawers

have dividers in them, so things stay organized?

ok, so this really isn't a kitchen, but i had to post it anyway,

because you get a great view into the kitchen in this image.

i love the mix of countertops....wood and concrete,

adn the three pendants over the island are the perfect

accent to the dark walls and floors.

i like light fixtures to have some sparkle to them...

all pictures are scanned by by me. some of these have been in my stash of
"pictures to scan" for years, and i apologize for not having sources for each one.
