this client had a room off the entry of her home that the family used as an office. the family is a large and active, and this office was used everyday for games, computer use, and homework.
before:
a few things that needed to be addressed:
1. more storage was needed.
2. we needed to keep as much existing furniture as possible.
3. the color needed to be amped up a bit.
4. window treatments and more seating was needed.
5. the current desks were too deep and took up too much floor space.
the positives:
the room has high ceilings, lots of light, and plenty of space.
here is the idea board from the design plan:
after:
the walls were painted benjamin moore's woodlawn blue (hc-147) , and an existing love seat from another room in the house was brought in and placed in front of the window to anchor a seating area.
a color scheme of aqua, red, brown and camel was established by some chevron pillows.
a new rug adds softness and lots of pattern, while the red ottomans provide a shot of color and also function
as extra seating. new roman shades were added for much needed light control and privacy.
family photos were corralled on three shelves to the side of the sofa.
the new light fixture is much easier on the eyes than the old ceiling fan!
in the corner, a new storage unit was added. this was the key to making the floor plan work.
two new desks were also added, all in a finish to coordinate with the homeowners existing white storage pieces.
new bulletin boards were made, and comfy new armless chairs were added to the desk areas.
i have to admit that my client made lighting fast progress on this office, and did a
great job styling the room.
interested in working together to create a more functional and beautiful space?
i have just added a new service to my services page: a pinterest board + phone call
that i am really excited about!

Okay...I love books as much as any good book lover but I think this person has to be the worlds greatest book lover as they have built...yes Built a bookcase around there bath...interesting idea ...it would be very convenient to be able to just reach up for a book...although I could easily just bring mine in from the bedroom...not sure how the books would fare with the moisture and all?...I certainly wouldn't want anyone to accidentally knock them into the bath...I would however love to see the rest of this house as I would be intrigued as to what else a person with a bookcase around a bath would design elsewhere...hmmm?... nope can't even think of a more extravagant idea...can you? I do however love it when people think outside the "box" just not sure I would have ever thought this far! anyway tell me what you think I'd love to hear your thoughts...oh and have a Beautiful day!!! xx ps{ love the craftsmanship it's truly a Beautiful bookcase}
I am Thankful for Today and all that it gives me...
I am thankful for my children...my 13 year old for striving each and everyday to be the best of who she can be...for the way she carries herself throughout life...for all her great achievements...for her sensibility {god knows we need a sensible one!] my 10 year old for always seeing the beauty in everyday life...and for her overwhelming excitement and love for everything sparkly and pretty [an absolute joy to shop with] my 6 year old for being the littlest wise man I know...for melting my heart each and everyday...for treating his mum like a princess...for showing love and compassion beyond his six years { the makings of a great man} and my almost 8month old for staring lovingly into my soul each and every second of the day and for loving me unconditionally {he's just so cute!} for all this I am so Grateful...Have a Beautiful day xx { I'm also grateful for my gorgeous mum who is in this photo with my beautiful children...Hi mum!}
